Upcoming Classes

Girls Day Out on Oct. 11th is nearly fully but I can still get a few more in. If you're interested, I need to hear from you by Monday as I'll be closing registration then. There are only a few spots left in the Oct. 25th Between the Threat and the Bang class, so if you're interested in the class sign up soon to reserve your seat. Remember, GDO or a private lesson with an OPD instructor is a pre-requisite for BTB.

Mom's Class

Three children shot themselves or another child right here in our state in August this has got to stop, and the only way to stop it is for you the parent/grandparent/aunt/uncle to educate yourself on how to educate your children. OPD Instructor Cherise Barsaloux has scheduled her class for parents called Firearms and Your Young Child on Sunday, Oct. 19th from 3-7 pm in Moore. It costs us money to hold a class, and so far there hasn't been enough sign up to hold this class. Please, if you have children in your life, take this class! See Cherise's Mom's Corner from the September newsletter for more on the class and why every parent should attend.

See the Classes Tab for class details and to register.

NOTE: It is my personal policy to never turn anyone away from a class due to finances. I set class costs as low as possible to cover expenses for a given class, but if the cost is difficult please contact me and I will work with you. Tammy

Realtor and Workplace Safety

The abduction and murder of an Arkansas realtor, the unthinkable beheading of a woman in Moore, and the arrest of a nursing home worker who threatened to behead his co-worker have brought tremendous fear to women. From the beginning I have written OPD classes to remove fear from women, and these terrible situations are no different. Education + proper tools = protection. I have two offerings that specifically address concerns for realtors and women at work, a no cost one-hour lecture and a low cost three-hour class. I can bring either of these on site to any location with a meeting space. Click these links for details on the class and lecture.

Be sure to check out John Farnam's Law Enforcement Perspective about our current threat on the Articles Tab.

Around 130 people attended the September 27th OPD hosted U.S. Law Shield Gun Law Seminar! See photos from the conference here.

OCPD Citizen Police Academy

Last month I started a column on my experiences as a student in Class #37 of the Oklahoma City Police Department's Citizen Police Academy. I'll be posting an article each month covering all 12 sessions of the CPA. I'm learning a lot about the OCPD, and I think you'll find the articles really interesting! The column now has its own heading under Articles Archives on the main newsletter page so you can read previous articles there. This month's CPA topic is gangs, and I'm also including a write up on my second ride-along. See the Articles Tab.

New Book

OPD friends, I'm excited to announce the release of my third book in the Cat Carlyle Mystery Series, Tokens of the Lost.

Cat stumbles into another murder mystery when she and Sullivan find a child alone in an old, empty house in Guthrie. As Sullivan works the missing child's case, a deadly tornado tears through Guthrie and a serial killer begins dumping his victim's bodies in the tornado rubble. Sullivan and Cat are soon to discover there's more to be lost than possessions in...Tokens of the Lost. Available now on Amazon.com in paperback and for Kindle here.

Thank you OPD friends for sharing in my happiness. Be safe out there and might I suggest, be vigilant.
